Comment from TSN
On August 15, 2003, TSN (and Discovery Channel) became the first Canadian specialty channel(s) to begin broadcasting in High Definition. Since TSN began broadcasting in HD, it has aired numerous NFL, CFL, NHL and NBA games, as well as tennis, The Masters and PGA TOUR golf.
TSN is committed to the growth of HD television. Our first objective was to confirm carriage with all of the major distributors. In fact, we have made major strides with Rogers and Bell ExpressVu on this front. We will continue to work with other distributors to ensure the widest availability of our HD programs. Parallel to this objective is the steady growth in the quantity of HD programs. This will be a continuing process as we produce and acquire more and more programs in HD as they become available.
In the meantime, we are proud and dedicated to our objective as we move, over time, to a High Definition world.
Thanks for your correspondence.

Blah Blah Blah. What you write means nothing.
The simple fact is: Sportsnet showed ALL home Blue Jay games in HDTV - TSN didn't. Sportsnet has HDTV cameras in-studio - TSN doesn't. The only HDTV on TSN is plug-ins to the American Networks.
Exactly what CFL game did you transmit in HDTV??
And one other thing - although I did not see the last two Blue Jay home-games on TV - one was broadcast by Sportsnet and the other by TSN. I'll bet only ONE was in HDTV. Am I right??

You may be right but you have to give these things time man...don't get all upset. I'm sure they have an implementation plan.
If it bothers you don't watch.

So TSN....what are the plans for the 2005 CFL season? Can we count on seeing my beloved Renegades in High Definition?

In regards to TSN and Sportsnet broadcasting Blue Jays home games, they come out of the same HDTV truck, however, TSN only broadcasts a standard definition picture from the truck, where as Sportsnet broadcasts an HD and SD signal. TSN did cover the 2005 World Junior Hockey Championships in HD.
Part of the problem is the lack of HDTV trucks in Canada. Currently there is only 1. 2 more are in the process of being built and should be running shortly. The associated costs with HD sports is much higher than SD because the cost of renting the TV truck. Unfortunatly, the Renegades will probably not be in HD.

I receive TV programming via Rogers Cable in the GTA.
What ticks me off is having subscribed to the basic service, up graded to the Ultimate Package that provides TSN, Discovery and others, that when I further upgraded to HDTV at $15/mo for their set top box, an ADDITIONAL service fee is required to obtain TSN and Discovery in HD format.
I don't know whether Rogers or the broadcasters are to blame for this nickel and dime rip-off but I've drawn the line. If more do the same this double dip just may not work and having paid for a channel package and paid for HD is seen as enough.
