Full 5.1 sound track?
I'm researching HDTV now. I noticed when I was on ExpressVu's site their demo of HDTV does not include a subwoofer in their setup. I was assuming all along that HDTV Dolby 5.1 sound would mean that HDTV was sending the full Dolby 5.1 sound track. Can someone confirm that would it sound the same as a DVD and that those crashing waves in Saving Private Ryan will knock the pictures off my walls.

Comment from Admin:

The Dolby 5.1 sound coding system is quite flexible and allows for the transmission and decoding of lesser numbers of tracks at the user’s option. Many receivers decode only a stereo pair, for instance and many programs use only 2/0 stereo as the audio. Programs that are prepared and encoded with the full 5.1 channels will give you the amazing sound you are looking for and if you have a top performing digital decoder in your Home Theater system, even the lesser offerings will be amazingly good. Good listening!

I get my HDTV of the air and so far it is hit or miss as far 5.1 goes. My Denon receive displays what type of signal is coming in. A lot of the shows come in as PLII and many others that are Dolby Digital are only in 2.0. I find this disappointing considering the amazing picture quality I'm getting for free. Hopefully this improves in the future.
