Take a look at:
www.wendy.seltzer.org/mythtv or www.eff.org/broadcastflag/cookbook if you are really interested in making your own. If not, the major BDU’s have HDTV PVR offering available and a recent announcement from Mitsubishi of their HD-6000 unit opens up PVR possibilities for OTA HDTV as well. The HD PVR is becoming very popular.

I got my Bell ExpressVu 6000 receiver modified by the people at R5000. It allows the receiver to be hooked up to a pc via USB 2.0 and record the transport stream to your Hard Drive. High Def material comes in at about 9 gigs an hour so a large HD is required. Playback using TheatherTek is awesome. Can schedule recordings using Zap2it as well. Can split the file using HDTV2MPEG and archive on 2 DVD's. Works pretty well and they are having a sale right now.
