CDTV Appoints New Chair

APRIL 2003 – Donald A. Braden, Executive Director of CSUA was appointed Chair of the Canadian Digital Television (CDTV) Board of Directors at its April 2nd meeting in Toronto.  Don served as a director for the past 3 years and replaces Past Chair, Jim Macdonald who stepped down from his role earlier this month.

Canadian Digital Television directors and management expressed their gratitude for the leadership and guidance provided by the outgoing Chair over the course of the last year and a half.  Michael McEwen praised Jim for guiding the Association during a delicate transition for CDTV and thanked him for his efforts and hard work on behalf of the organization.

In a unanimous decision, the Board appointed Don Braden as the new Chair of CDTV.  For over 30 years, Don has been involved in public policy issues and association management.  He has also worked for the Canadian federal government in the area of competition law and regulated industries.   He has appeared before a number of regulatory boards, House of Commons and Senate standing committees as an expert witness or as the advocate for BB & C’s telecommunications clients.  He is currently a partner in the firm BB & C Association Management services and is also the Executive Director of the Canadian Satellite Users Association (CSUA), one of the founding members and key stakeholders of CDTV.

His extensive association background and past experience in the association as Chair of CDTV’s Education and Marketing Committee as well as his work in a broad variety of public relations and government liaison is definitely an asset for our members, says McEwen, as we become DTV operational in Canada over the course of the coming years.
